Disaster Averted After Gas Line Ruptures Downtown
A disaster was averted in downtown Brewster last Friday when a contractor installing a traffic light along the village’s Main Street accidentally ruptured a natural gas line.
The incident at the intersection of Main and Progress Streets forced the evacuation of 16 buildings, including homes and businesses, forcing dozens of people into the chilly morning air.
